AS RELIGIOSIDADES DE ATLETAS MIGRANTES PROFISSIONAIS E A INVENÇÃO DE “MASCULINIDADES RESPEITÁVEIS”

Resumo


Jogadores brasileiros compõem a “força de trabalho global do futebol” como o maior grupo de migrantes do futebol contemporâneo. Pesquisas etnográficas anteriores revelam que os atletas brasileiros valorizam a possibilidade de cruzar fronteiras. Ao construir aspirações móveis, os atletas tentam incorporar uma forma de “masculinidade respeitável”. Embora seu movimento seja vantajoso para muitas partes, jogadores migrantes estão entre os nós mais visíveis e precários das indústrias esportivas. Atletas estão regularmente submetidos a contratos de curto prazo e à possibilidade de término prematuro de carreira devido a lesões. Neste ensaio, analisarei como um grupo de jogadores brasileiros migrantes de futebol e futsal constrói narrativas sobre suas carreiras, expressa masculinidades e incorpora símbolos religiosos. Este ensaio é inspirado por meu envolvimento com as análises sobre religião e secularismo de Geertz, Talal Asad e de Saba Mahmood. Estas análises abrem caminhos para novos entendimentos e interpretações das experiências subjetivas de jogadores migrantes.
