Tropical mangrove and swamp forests are among the ecosystems of greatest ecological importance and at thesame time with the highest degree of threat. Cuba is among the first countries in the world in terms
of the relative extent of its mangroves. However, the increase in salinity, the abrasive action of the
sea on the coasts, among other causes, are affecting these ecosystems. The present study focuses
on mangroves and other coastal forests present at the mouth of the Santa Cruz del Norte River,
in the western province of Mayabeque; mouth that borders the industrial complex of the
Cuba Ron S.A. Corporation. Due to the influence that said complex exerts on the reference ecosystem
and the strategic intention of the company to develop ecological restoration actions for these species,
fundamental for adaptation to Climate Change, the general objective of this project is to design a
restoration program of mangroves and other coastal forests in the town of Santa Cruz del Norte.
To solve the stated objective, different techniques and methods were applied: General Problem Solving Method,
Ishikawa Diagram, Deming Cycle (PHVA) and Gantt Chart. Once all the previously mentioned techniques and tools
are applied, results are obtained for the proposed objectives.
