Este artigo tem como objetivo contribuir com a literatura econômica LGBT e economia do trabalho ao analisar se a orientação sexual é uma variável importante para participar do mercado de trabalho brasileiro A fim de que esse objetivo seja cumprido, foram utilizados microdados da Pesquisa Nacional por Amostra de Domicílio Contínua (PNADC) para o ano de 2019, em um modelo probit, em que a população foi dividida entre grupos de pessoas heterossexuais e homo ou bissexuais, com intuito de verificar como a orientação sexual e demais características individuais afetam a inserção dos indivíduos no mercado de trabalho. Os principais resultados mostram que indivíduos LGB tendem a ser mais ativos no mercado de trabalho relativamente a indivíduos heterossexuais, tendem a receber maiores salários e a serem mais novos. Evidenciou-se, ainda, que mulheres, independentemente da orientação sexual, tendem a ser mais descriminalizadas e penalizadas no mercado de trabalho que os homens, sendo mais grave para mulheres heterossexuais.
