The aim of this paper is to discuss the compatibility of Locke's criticism of enthusiasm and his defense of the use of miracles as evidence of the divine origin of a revelation, in the context of his broader project that faith should be regulated by reason. To this end, the paper analyzes the distinctions made by Locke between knowledge and judgment, as well as the criteria for determining the degree of probability of a proposition, in addition to the distinction between reason and faith. The paper argues that the criticism of enthusiasm is compatible with the use of miracles as evidence of divine revelation.
