The climate change caused by the anthropogenic era has generated changes on planet Earth. The main gas responsible for these changes is carbon dioxide. Ecological restoration can minimize the impacts of climate change, since there is an accumulation of carbon in plants during their growth, with a sequestration of atmospheric carbon. Instituto Água e Terra, an environmental agency in Paraná, seeks sustainable development in its activities. Thus, the quantification and neutralization of emissions are compatible with the mission and vision of the state company. This work aimed to quantify the emission of carbon dioxide of the IAT’s seat in and to propose the compensation of this emission, through the recovery of degraded areas. For this, information was obtained on energy and water costs of the seat, number of air conditioning recharges, number of flights, garbage separation and means of transportation for employees. With those data, we calculated the carbon emission of IAT’s seat at <https://app.carbonext.com.br/calculator/business/start>. For this compensation proposal, it was considered that a tree can accumulate 2.28 kg of CO2 yearly and the seedling’ planting with 3m by 2m of space as a restoration method. Then, it was calculated how many trees and hectares will be necessary to compensate. The emission of 915 ton CO2 yearly was verified. Results demonstrated that, to neutralize this emission, 401308 trees must be planted in 241 hectares. It is suggested that this calculation be extended to the other regional offices of the Institute and to the Secretariat for Sustainable Development and Tourism.
