Abstract

Deformation monitoring and control surveying takes in account equipment resolution and precision besides other physical phenomena that make the use of geodetic and/or geotecnic methods necessary. This work shows the physical principles, tests results and calibration method of a new photo mechanic inclinometer. This equipment was developed at Universidade Federal do Paraná. designed to monitor the structural integrity of a dam safety monitoring, it was very helpful for any structural observation in civil engineering. At it uses simple mechanic principles, conectivity, remote comunication, hight frequency data acquisition capability, large data storage and low cost production, it appears to be a very good monitoring new instrument. Tests have shown quite promissing results, as a resolution of 1mm/100m and precision of 2mm/100m when used to monitor structural inclination and with 1kHz frequency.
