The journal AtoZ – New Practices in Information and Knowledge, affiliated with the Graduate Program in Information Management (PPGGI) at the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), was classified in Qualis A2 in the CAPES Quadriennial Evaluation 2021–2024. This result reinforces the journal’s scientific relevance and its role in disseminating knowledge in the fields of information science, management, and information technology.

Published by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES), the Quadriennial Evaluation assesses the scientific output of Brazilian graduate programs and classifies the journals used for article publication during the evaluated period. The A2 stratum indicates a high standard of editorial quality, academic impact, and recognition within the national graduate education system.

The Qualis Periódicos system will no longer be used in the 2025–2028 cycle. After the conclusion of the 2021–2024 evaluation, the Qualis lists from the different evaluation periods will be archived on the CAPES website in the Evaluation Archive section. Created by CAPES, Qualis Periódicos has fulfilled its specific purpose and will no longer be applied to graduate program evaluations, nor updated by the agency, as of 2025.

AtoZ is a non-profit, open-access scientific journal dedicated to publishing interdisciplinary research focused on new practices in information and knowledge. Throughout its history, the journal has expanded its visibility, strengthened its inclusion in national and international databases, and consolidated itself as a qualified forum for scientific debate.

The achievement of Qualis A2 by AtoZ is part of a positive scenario for UFPR in the CAPES Quadriennial Evaluation. Of the 78 scientific journals in the Digital Library of Journals (BDP), 59 were evaluated, and 25 were classified in the A stratum, highlighting the institution’s commitment to academic excellence, scientific research, and high-level education.

The recognition of AtoZ contributes to strengthening UFPR’s scientific output and reaffirms the strategic role of institutional journals in promoting open science, innovation, and the qualified circulation of knowledge in Brazil.
