NOTAS SOBRE O EFEITO DE PRESENÇA DA REPRESENTAÇÃO

Resumo

Nossa intenção neste trabalho é discutir teoricamente a representação política e radicalizá-la a ponto de
combiná-la com a noção weberiana de dominação. Isso requer, desde já, que partamos do pressuposto de
que estamos diante de um tipo e de um efeito muito particular de representação: a representação
carismática associada ao que chamaremos de seu efeito de presença. Nossa proposta é, portanto, explicar
as razões que levam o representado, devoto ou apóstolo a seguir cegamente um líder carismático. Assim, em
um primeiro momento, discutiremos a idéia lato sensu de representação o estar em lugar de e a
necessária distinção entre representante e representado. Após isso, analisaremos a possibilidade de tratar,
a partir da perspectiva weberiana, a dominação carismática como um tipo particular de representação,
chamada por Weber de representação apropriada. Por fim, trataremos especificamente, a partir da noção
de supplément, de Derrida, do efeito de presença da representação e da explicação do carisma pela
perspectiva do representado.

NOTES ON THE EFFECTS OF PRESENCE OF REPRESENTATION

Abstract

The goal of this paper is to develop a theoretical discussion of political representation and radicalize
it to the point where it can be fused with with Weber´s notion of domination. This requires beginning
from the premise that we are facing a particular type and effect- of representation: charismatic
representation associated with what we can refer to as its effect of presence. Our proposal thus
becomes that of explaining the blind faith of those who are represented by, or are devotees or followers of a charismatic leader. Thus, we will begin with a idea of representation lato sensu
that of being in someone else´s place and the necessary distinction between the one whom
represents and the one who is represented. This will be followed by the analysis of the possibility of
dealing, from a Weberian perspective, of charismatic representation as a particular type of
representation, which Weber refers to as appropriate representation. Lastly, we will deal specifically
with the effects of presence of representation and of the explanation of charisma from the point
of view of those who are represented, through the use of Derrida´s notion of supplément.

NOTES SUR LEFFET DE PRESENCE REPRESENTATION

Résumé

Dans ce travail, nous envisageons discuter théoriquement de la représentation politique. En
lapprofondissant, nous larticulerons avec la notion de domination de Weber. Cela exige que nous ayons comme présupposé le fait que nous faisons face à un type et à un effet très particulier de
représentation: la représentation charismatique associée à ce que nous appelerons son «effet de
présence». Nous proposons donc dexpliquer les raisons qui mènent le représenté, dévot ou apôtre, à
suivre aveuglement un leader charismatique. Ainsi, dans un premier moment, nous discuterons de
lidée lato sensu de représentation lêtre à la place de» - et limportante différence entre représentant
et représenté. Ensuite, nous analyserons la possibilité de traiter, à partir de la perspective de Weber, la
domination charismatique comme un type particulier de représentation, appelé par Weber «représenetation
appropriée». Enfin, nous aborderons, à partir de la notion de «supplément» de Derrida, «leffet de
présence» de la représentation et de lexplication du charisme du point de vue du représenté.
