The vice directorate of Research and Development of the Center of Molecular Immunology has presented a decrease in operational indicators due to the lack of disposable materials that, in addition, have a negative impact on the environment. The development of innovative proposals that minimize the use of resources, maintain the stipulated quality levels and align with good environmental responsibility practices becomes urgent. The article presents simulation as an ideal tool for sustainable redesign and improvement, based on work with factors that represent the ecological impact, taking as the object of study the production process of non-alpha Mutein IL-2 in the area. Different methods and tools were used: documentary analysis, inductive- deductive, general problem-solving method, simulation of discrete events in the DOSIMIS-3 program, modeling, Cause-Effect diagram (Ishikawa), and feasibility analysis, among others. A redesign is proposed in the preparation of Sodium Hydroxide solutions for the process based on its simulation-optimization, managing to reduce the use of disposable bags by 92.03% of the current volume, the cycle time by 72% and the overall cost by 5%.
