Com a necessidade de identificar métodos mais eficientes e mais simples de efetuar as tarefas, surge os estudos de tempos que contribuíram para melhoria dos métodos de trabalho existentes e a determinação de tempos-padrão. Dessa maneira a finalidade do estudo de tempos e movimentos é reduzir o desperdício do esforço e dos movimentos desnecessários do operário, racionalizar e adaptar os funcionários às tarefas. O objetivo geral desse artigo é contribuir para a construção da informação referente ao estudo de tempos e movimentos. O artigo trata-se de uma pesquisa de revisão bibliográfica exploratória. Com a pesquisa foi possível identificar que o uso de tempos e movimentos possibilita a uma organização uma visão global de todos os processos produtivos, sendo de suma importância para o seu desenvolvimento e, a partir de uma análise sistemática do trabalho, gera vários benefícios que levarão ao aumento da produtividade e eficiência operaciona
