This article shows the analysis of the productive process of tobacco in Short format, of a similar producing company in Havana where the use of competitive intelligence techniques such as the BAFI study, the SWOT analysis and the behavior of production indicators, together with the General Problem Solving Method revealed the weaknesses and threats that affected the company's position in the market, identifying the lack of resources and poor planning as the fundamental causes of non-compliance with production plans. Following the Lean Manufacturing philosophy and applying business intelligence techniques, such as work sampling and regulation, operations were detected that used more resources than necessary, limiting the capacity of the process. Simulation of the process in Arena software demonstrated that automating labeling and strategic relocation of workers increases efficiency, productivity, and compliance with the production plan. This project demonstrates how competitive intelligence, Lean philosophy and business intelligence tools can be used to identify and eliminate inefficiencies in production processes, improving resource management and increasing competitiveness in a challenging business environment.
