During 2021, the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB) started the production of the active pharmaceutical ingredient (IFA) of the recombinant protein of the receptor-binding domain of the SARS-CoV-2 virus (RBD) for the Abdala vaccine. The purpose of this article is to develop proposals for improvement in the work organization, to increase the productivity of the process. Different tools were used such as General Problem Solving Method, Flow Chart (OTIDA), Expert Interviews, Cause - Effect Diagram, Individual Continuous Observation Technique, Critical Examination and Multiple Activities Diagram, among others. The process has a capacity of 16 batches and the limiting point is the Fermentation operation. The main problems detected are difficulties in the distribution of the workload and in the use of working time. A redesign of the organization of the activities of the Fermentation operation is proposed, adjusting production to 100 % of its capacity, and increasing productivity by 103,84 %. An improvement proposal is presented in the use of the work time of the operators of the Solution Preparation activities, having a productivity dynamic of 11,35 %.
