EVALUACIÓN DE ALTERNATIVAS PARA LA ESTIMACIÓN DE LA DEMANDA INTERMITENTE Y EL CONTROL DE INVENTARIOS DE REPUESTOS DE EQUIPOS BIOMÉDICOS

El artículo presenta una metodología para la gestión de inventarios en condiciones de demanda intermitente, a partir de la aplicación de un modelo estocástico para su estimación. Para su validación se utilizó un estudio de caso consistente en el sector de repuestos biomédicos de un hospital público. Se simularon alternativas de estimación de la demanda y del control de inventarios buscando atender el nivel de servicio deseado y disminuir los costos de compra y mantenimiento del inventario de repuestos.Los resultados demuestran que, para la mayoría de los repuestos analizados, la institución hospitalaria realiza una sobreestimación de las necesidades de compra de estos, dada la necesidad de mantener una alta disponibilidad de ellos y la dificultad de estimar su demanda. La política de compra y control de inventarios propuesta permite una reducción de los costos de compra en un 41%, manteniendo los niveles de servicio definidos por la gerencia de la institución objeto de estudio.
