Abstract

A evasão é um dos maiores e mais preocupantes desafios do sistema educacional. Este trabalho identificou as causas de evasão do curso de bacharelado em Engenharia de Produção do Instituto Federal de Minas Gerais – Campus Governador Valadares – MG, por meio da coleta de dados dos alunos evadidos no período de 2010 a 2019. Com isso, foram analisados dados da vida pregressa e acadêmica do aluno, que se relacionam com as variáveis propostas pelos modelos explicativos de evasão. Observou-se que grande parte dos evadidos possuíam idade entre 18 e 22 anos, e que mais da metade evadiu enquanto cursavam até o 3º período do curso. Além disso, percebe-se uma tendência de crescimento para os próximos anos, alertando a Instituição de que é necessária uma busca por soluções para este problema.
