Abstract

O objetivo desse trabalho é apresentar uma apreciação crítica da explicação de Carl Menger para a origem do dinheiro. Primeiramente é apresentada a explicação de Menger para a orgem do dinheiro, interpretada como uma abordagem ontogenética de acordo com a sugestão de Geoffrey Hodgson (1993). Em seguida apontam-se os fundamentos metodológicos da origem do dinheiro em Menger, a partir das categorias da metafísica de Aristóteles. Em seguida apresenta-se sumariamente a abordagem histórico estrutural de Marx para a origem do dinheiro contrapondo-se esta à abordagem ontogenética de Menger.
