Journal History

The journal Archives of Veterinary Science was created in October 1996. It is one of the oldest scientific journals in Veterinary Medicine in Brazil.

The first Editorial Advisory Board was composed of profs. Metry Bacila (Editor-in-Chief), Clotilde L. B. Germiniani, Gilberto A de Souza, Luiz E. Kozicki and Pedro R Werner. The editorial board had also another 38 researchers from various areas of Veterinary Medicine and from different Universities and research institutions of Brazil.

Originally, the publications had the support of the Instituto de Tecnologia do Paraná, TECPAR, the Companhia Cimento Portland Rio Branco, the Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico, CNPq, and the Universidade Federal do Paraná, UFPR.

In 2026, AVS will celebrate 30 years of exemplary service in publishing scientific literature.
