Peer Review Process
The manuscripts will be evaluated by at least two independent reviewers who work in the area to which the manuscript is related. The evaluation process will be blinded when the reviewers know the names of the author/s.
The reviewers are all highly qualified researchers with clear research activity and publications within the journal's area. The time for a full evaluation will be between two and four months.
The indication of the reviewers may be, but not exclusively, suggested by the authors. The names will be selected in a case-by-case condition. The editor will consider the origin of the suggested reviewers, as well as their quality of research and previous publications. The authors should suggest names from outside their institutions.
AVS will focus on the innovative character and the level of insertion of the manuscript to the area of Veterinary Medicine. The documents will be evaluated by their national and global scientific impact and how the authors communicate to the academy. There is also an interest in complying with the insertion of the community, as a tool for extension work (optional).

The possible results may be based on:
- The manuscript can be accepted for publication after minor corrections.
- The manuscript needs to be submitted to a new revision process, after minor/major corrections.
- The manuscript is rejected based on the final revision.
Publication Frequency
The journal Archives of Veterinary Science has one Volume per year with four numbers (March, June, September, and December). Each number has up to 10 articles making a total of 40 articles per year.
Open Access Policy
This journal allows public access to all its contents, following the true open-access principle. This may allow the spread of knowledge with more participative and collaborative global research. This access is associated with the growing need for free scientific literature and the increase in citations. For more information about this philosophy, visit Public Knowledge Project. This project has developed this system to improve academic quality and public research, distributing the OJS, as well as other support software to the public access publication system and academic sources.
Archiving
This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...
