His main focus is innovation research, especially in Science and Technology Studies, Micro-sociology of technology development and use, Inter- and transdisciplinary research collaboration, and qualitative and digital methods. He brings a critique of the dominant innovation paradigm in science and technology studies (STS). joining several colleagues in the literature, taking part in the recently emerged field of the Critical Studies of Innovation He is Chairman of the German Society for Science and Technology Studies and a Member of the Board of the Section Science and Technology Studies within the German Sociological Association.
