Abstract

Esse trabalho teve como objetivo investigar os fatores determinantes para o surgimento de small firms no Brasil. Utilizando dados em painel para as 27 unidades da federação entre os anos 2000 a 2018 verificou se as teorias de transbordamento de conhecimento técnico-científico e o conhecimento tácito provenientes do investimento em Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento (P&D) e patenteamento, bem como a disponibilidade de crédito contribui para o surgimento de small firms no mercado brasileiro. Os resultados do modelo de Efeitos Fixos demonstram tanto o conhecimento, como o investimento público direto através de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento (P&D) e Bolsas de Estudo, quanto a intermediação do acesso ao crédito as startups através do Banco de Desenvolvimento (BNDES) trazem efeitos positivos e significativos no surgimento de small firms na economia brasileira.
