University-industry interactions: experiences in traditional activities of Santa Catarina

This article is about the interactions between universities and productionin traditional activities. Its focus is twofold: mariculture of mollusks andclothing production in the area of Florianópolis (Santa Catarina State, Brazil). Bothanalyses can take into account the discussion about university-industry relations.In the former activity, such relations involve the Universidade Federal de SantaCatarina, the Empresa de Pesquisa e Extensão Rural de Santa Catarina and peopleliving in seaboard communities. In the second activity, they concern among other things the creation and operation of a graduate course on Fashion – Qualificationin Fashion Design, at the Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina, that was soonfollowed by a postgraduate course. Without leaving aside the specific features, thepaper compares both experiences in terms of results of the university-industryinteractions, and briefly approaches the question of their importance for local andregional development.Downloads
